Air Quality

Jump to Bills ↓

Air quality is a significant and growing concern in New Mexico. Experts link exposure to air pollutants to many adverse health effects, including exacerbation of asthma symptoms, diminished lung function, birth deformities, cardiovascular disease and childhood cancer.

Any number of legislative policies have the potential to impact New Mexico’s air quality — everything from mining and smelter operations to transportation and road-building. Given the major health implications of protecting our air quality, this issue category will be assigned to a broad array of proposed legislation, most of which will fall under other issue areas as well.
