Summary
This bill creates the Advanced Mapping Fund and appropriates $1,000,000 to the fund for FY 2017 and subsequent fiscal years.
The Advanced Mapping Fund is appropriated to and administered by the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department for the purpose of hiring a project coordinator to oversee the Rio Grande trail project, including overseeing the master plan and alignment study agreement; purchasing rights of way required for the trail corridor; coordinating with all affected entities; and planning, design and construction of the Rio Grande trail.
Potential benefits of this bill might include preservation of lands traversed by the trail and increased recognition, appreciation and utilization of the state’s natural recreation resources.
On February 10 the Senate Finance Committee amended SB 224 to remove the appropriation.
Potential benefits of this bill might, if the appropriation is included in a separate appropriation bill, include preservation of lands traversed by the trail and increased recognition, appreciation and utilization of the state’s natural recreation resources.
On February SB 224 was amended on the Senate Floor to add, as a purpose of the fund, “providing matching funds for federal grants to conduct advanced mapping projects statewide.”.
Potential benefits of this bill might, if the appropriation is included in a separate appropriation bill and if federal grant funds are available, include preservation of lands traversed by the trail and increased recognition, appreciation and utilization of the state’s natural recreation resources.
