Summary

This bill expands the number of counties eligible to declare a “traditional historic community ” by adding Class A counties with populations between 140,000 and 200,000 and changing the population range for Class B counties to 30,000 – 40,000 from 95,000 – 99,500.

The current definition of “traditional historic community ” applies only to communities within Santa Fe County. This bill would expand the definition to also include such communities within Taos County.

This bill appears to be a positive step toward allowing the declaration of additional traditional historic communities.
