Summary

This bill amends the Sunshine Portal Transparency Act to provide that, no later than January 1, 2016, the information provided by the Sunshine Portal with regard to state contracts for the lease, sale or development of state land, and state contracts with a total contract price of more than $20,000, shall include (in addition to the name of the contract recipient and the purpose of the contract):

  • the amounts expended on the contract;
  • a copy of, or a link to a copy of, the contract document, including amendments; and
  • a copy of, or a link to a copy of, any resident business of contractor preference certificate used in the award of a contract.

On March 3rd the Senate Public Affairs Committee amended SB 537 to change from January 1, 2016 to January 1, 2017 the date by which the additional information listed above must be included.

A potential benefit of this bill might be increased transparency and public availability of information regarding contracts for the lease, sale or development of state land.
