Summary
This bill amends the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Act to allow counties and municipalities with populations that are less than 100,000 to designate routes on which off-highway vehicles may be operated. Those routes may be shared with other vehicles. The routes must have signs that warn of off-highway vehicle use.
The bill also allows the Secretary of the Department of Transportation to specify off-highway motor vehicle routes along state highways.
One potential benefit of this bill is that it may cause OHV users to stay on established routes. A possible concern might be that traffic may become more complicated on routes that are being used by OHVs.
Outcome: HB 399 died in the House Transportation and Public Works Committee.
