Summary

This bill, endorsed by the New Mexico Finance Authority Oversight Committee, with the emergency clause, would authorize the New Mexico Finance Authority to make loans or grants from the Water Project Fund for 42 specific qualifying water projects. Often the list of projects gets augmented during a Session via amendment. Loans or grants authorized by the bill would fund projects of cities, towns, villages, pueblos, flood control authorities, conservancy districts, water users associations, domestic water and sewage works associations, soil and water conservation and sanitation districts, irrigation districts and an acequia. The projects include flood prevention projects; water conservation, treatment, recycling or reuse projects; water storage, conveyance and delivery projects; and watershed restoration and management projects.
