Summary

The Wastewater Facility Construction Loan Act provides local authorities in New Mexico with low-cost financial assistance in the construction of necessary wastewater facilities.

This bill would expand the definition of “local authority” to include a mutual domestic water consumers association as defined by the Sanitary Projects Act.

It also extends, from 20 to 30 years, the period after completion of the construction of a wastewater facility project within which a loan must be repaid in full.

This bill may benefit the public by making it easier for communities to obtain funding for wastewater systems.
