Summary

This bill provides for an annual transfer from the Fire Protection Fund to the Forest and Watershed Restoration Fund. The amount transferred increases annually, from 3.25 percent of the remaining balance in the Fire Protection Fund on June 30, 2015 to 33.5 percent on June 30, 2025 and each succeeding June 30. The amount transferred annually to the Fire Protection Grant Fund is reduced by the same amount.

The provisions of this bill are contingent upon the creation prior to June 20, 2015 of the Forest and Watershed Restoration Fund, as provided by related bill HB 38.

A potential benefit of this bill might be expanded support for the health of New Mexico’s forests and watershed.
