Summary

The State Game Commission regulates the taking and killing of protected game animals, birds and fish.

This bill amends Section 17-2-3 NMSA 1978 by adding the genus Oreochromis (tilapia) and the family Moronidae (striped bass, hybrid striped bass, white bass and others) to the list of protected game fish.

A possible benefit of this bill might be protection of tilapia and striped bass from overfishing in New Mexico.
