Summary

This joint resolution proposes to amend the Constitution of New Mexico to provide that members of the House of Representatives, elected for terms beginning on or after January 1, 2019, will serve terms of four years.

A potential benefit of this bill might be that it would give Representatives an increased measure of independence by freeing them from the need to raise funds for reelection every two years. A concern might be that Representatives would be less responsive to the immediate concerns of their constituents.
