This joint resolution proposes to amend Article 8 of the Constitution of New Mexico by imposing, for a 10-year period from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2027, a five cents ($.05) per gallon excise tax on gasoline, special fuels and alternative fuels. The tax shall only be used for state roads and highways.

 

A possible benefit of this bill might be an improved transportation infrastructure due to increased funding for state road projects.
